Hair Lace Application/Removal Contact Us/Policies Hair Loss Due to Illness General Questions

How can I prevent my lace wig from shedding/loosing hair?

We recommend using knot sealer to seal your knots on the underside of your wig. Just flip your wig inside out and be sure to protect the remaining hair with a plastic bag. Spray a light spray of knot sealer on the knots of lace wig cap. You should seal your knots after every washing. Knot sealer is available online for about $25.00, however, you can use matte clear acrylic spray that you may find in any craft shop for a couple dollars.

Also, you must shampoo and properly condition the unit to remove residue and environmental dirt. Not washing your unit will cause hairloss.

My lace wig is curly. How can I manage it so it does not frizz?

Curly units can be alot of work to manage. To manage a curly unit or any unit for that matter; after you wash your lace wig apply a leave in-conditioning spray when the hair is damp and comb through the hair with a hair pick, let air dry or dry in front of a cool fan.

Can I swim wearing my lace wig?

Yes, you can swim in your lace unit "wig" if you use a long term extended hold glue. Be sure to rinse your hair with cool water after you swim to remove any chlorine or salt water, etc. Not doing so will dry out the hair and it will become brittle.

Where does the hair come from?

A majority of the hair (indian hair) comes from women (about 40,000 every day) who offer their hair to deities in Hindu temples as a sign of respect and gratitude.  The temples then sell the hair and allegedly use the proceeds to maintain the temple, as well as contrubute to charities and other events sponsored by the temple.

Why are your prices so low? Am I still going to get a quality product?

We are in the business to provide high quality products at an a affordable price. Our goal is to gain loyal customers who keep coming back. We are a wholeseller company, we purchase our lace wigs in large volumes, which provides a lower cost for our customers.

What is virgin remy hair?

Virgin or cuticle hair is the highest quality human hair.  The cuticles of the hair are all intact and facing in the same direction, which allows for less tangling (we believe there is no such thing as tangle free hair).  It is in its natural state, free from chemical processing. It only comes in natural dark colors such as black, off black, dark brown, and medium brown.

What are baby hairs?

Baby hairs are fine hairs that are placed at the hairline for a more natural look. They can be placed around the hairline in the front, back or around the entire perimeter.

Can I color (dye) my lace wig and flat iron it?

Indian/Chinese Remy can be dyed only a darker color than the original color, styled, flat ironed according to whatever hairstyle you prefer. (Although we do not recommend flat ironing a curly unit, because you will loose it's curl over time).

Virgin Remy hair can be dyed any color, permed, styled and flat ironed.

Can I wear a lace front if I have a full head of hair and just want to change my look?

Of course. It's a must that you make your own hair as flat as possible by wrapping or braiding it, etc., then apply a stocking cap (that simulates your natural scalp color) over your natural hair.

What are bleached knots?

Bleached knots is currently to best method of making the hair appear as if it is growing from your scalp. If you do not have bleached knots you will see a dark dot on the skin, however, bleached knots does not mean the knot is totally bleached out. Usually the knots are just a shade lighter than the rest of the hair. If the knots are single knots at the hairline you do not need to bleach the knots, dabbing foundation based powder on the knots with a brush; bleached or not helps hide them as well.

What is the difference between synthetic and human hair?

A human hair wig is made with actual hair donated or sold from other people. Synthetic hair wigs are crafted from man-made fibers. Human hair wigs are softer than synthetic hair and are more natural looking.  Human hair wigs are more durable than synthetic wigs because human hair is stronger.

Indian Hair vs. European Hair

European hair is very soft and silky, and preferred by many Caucasian women because it resembles the texture of their own hair, but we have found European hair can be too fine and limp to hold a style.

Indian hair on the other hand is similar to European in texture, without having to undergo the extra processing, it has more body, hence a better choice for making wigs. Not to mention indian hair is much less expensive than European hair. Thus, indian this hair is very desirable by those who prefer a more silky textured human hair wig, without the high price.

What is Light Yaki?

Light Yaki is a texture that is a mix between Silky and African-American relaxed texture. It's more on the silky side.

What is the difference between French lace and Swiss lace?

There are three types of lace bases we carry at this time  – Super fine Swiss Lace, Swiss Lace and French Lace

Super fine Swiss lace is the thinnest in quality. It is also the most delicate base available. Perfect for use in the front, as it is invisible and does not show.

Swiss lace is slightly thicker as compared to the Super Fine quality. This does not mean that it is visible. In fact, this lace is also a good lace for the front, as you cannot see it. It is also more durable in strength.

French lace is extremely durable and cannot be seen from the front as well. Most people prefer this lace because it is more durable.

What is a lace wig?

A lace wig is very unique. I's built on a very sheer lace cap, and the key feature is that at the hairline, and when parted, a lace wig looks incredibly natural, as if the hair is growing right out of the scalp. This is not your traditional wig. It's better!

How do I dye the lace on my lace wig?

There are many methods of coloring the lace. This is one method.

Only color the lace where it is visible (usually at the front hairline and where parted).

Using a Cotton Tip Applicaton (Q-tip): Simply dip the q-tip into the Rit Dye (Rit Dye is fabric dye that can be found at Walmart or Walgreens) and dab onto Wig Cap Lace where you wish to change the color. We recommend using a Rit Dye color that is darker than your own skin tone. You may have to apply the Rit Dye more than one time to obtain the desired color on your Wig Cap Lace. Also, the color may fade a bit with washing, so keep your Rit Dye handy.

How long will my lace wig last?

WITH PROPER CARE your lace unit "wig" will last up to 6 months to a year depending all on the amount of time you wear your wig and how often you remove it.  Virgin hair unit will last over 100+ washings (over a year) if properly cared for.

How much lace do I cut off before I apply my wig?

All new lace wigs have a strip of bare lace at the front or around the perimeter that needs to be trimmed away. Use sharp hair scissors to trim the lace away, HOWEVER, make sure to leave a 1/8" – 1/4" (see below for a guide) strip of bare lace ahead of the actual hairline.  Having the bare lace in front means that if the lace begins to fray a little, you will not lose hair at the hairline. When it is attached, that small strip of lace disappears against your skin. The following diagram is approximatly 1 inch, not exact, but this will give you an idea of how much lace to leave around the perimeter:

0
|
|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|
  a b c d e f g h

 a = 1/8;  b = 2/8 = 1/4

However, some people cut off all the lace to the hairline.

Can I do anything to help prevent the lace from fraying at the edge, so it lasts longer?

If you visit your local fabric or craft store; there are products that are made to apply on fabrics to prevent fraying.

What color lace should I choose?

This depends on your scalp color not your complexion color. We offer the following colors:

Transparent (most of our in-stock lace wig units come with transparent lace, which will reveal the color of the the wig cap you choose);

Light Brown;

Brown; and

Dark Brown.

Note: You can dye the lace as some of our clients have done.

Do I need to have a professional apply my lace wig?

No, not at all. We include with every order, application and removal instructions, as well as how to care for your lace front wig. Some people prefer having their lace front wig applied by a professional, but with a little effort you can apply it yourself.

What is the strongest adhesive glue?

We have found that Ultra Hold adhesive holds extremely well under many conditions. Ultra Hold does have some harsh chemicals in it, so be sure to be informed about this product before deciding on this adhesive.

What do I do with my own hair?

If you have hair. You have a few options. If you have alot of hair it is recommend that you have your hair cornrow braided in a circle to create an even surface for the lace wig. If you have thin or short hair you may pin your hair around your head to achieve a flat surface. The main goal is to have an even bumpfree surface for the lace wig.

How can I easily remove glue from my lace wig?

The easiest way and safe way to remove glue from your lace wig is to slide the lace with the glue on it over a mirror (or any non-pourous surface like a glass table, glass window, etc.). The glue will smear off on the surface of the mirror. Keep doing this until the glue is completely removed. You may remove the glue off your mirror with a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol.

How do I remove glue from your scalp/skin?

The fastest way is to use a non-pourous material such as foil or better yet hi-light wraps. Hi-light wraps are used by professional stylists to highlights hair. These can be found at a beauty supply store (i.e., Sally Beauty Supply). First: Apply glue solvent (C-22, Pure, etc.) let set for a few minutes then using the foil/hi-light wraps apply the shiny side to your scalp and slide the foil/hi-light wraps in one direction. Use a clean side and slide again. Keep doing this until all the glue is removed  After the glue is removed use rubbing alcohol to remove the residue left on your skin.

I have total hair loss. Can I wear a lace front wig?

Absolutely.

I have Medicare. Will Medicare pay for my lace wig due to illness?

To the best of our knowledge Medicare will not cover the cost of a hair prothesis.

Will my insurance pay for my lace wig?

Possibly, you need to check your insurance policy to make sure, but if you are going through cancer-related therapy, treatment for alopecia, or if you need a wig for a medical related issue you might be covered by your health insurance company. Most health insurance companies will cover anywhere between 80-100% when you purchasing a "Cranial Hair Prosthesis" (medical wig). You should get a written prescription or letter from your doctor stating the medical issue you suffer from, and the need for a "Cranial Hair Prosthesis". It's important that the prescription states "Cranial Hair Prosthesis". We will then give you a receipt stating that your purchase was made per your prescription. Typically, you would then make a claim to your insurance company including your receipt from us and your doctor's prescription.

Are you affiliated with any other lace wig site?

No, not at this time.

Why do your custom lace wigs take so long to deliver compared to other sites I have seen?

This answer is simple; because we are picky about the quality and craftmanship of our lace wigs.  We want to provide our customers with the best lace wig products available at an affordable price; not the quickest custom made lace wig available. Quality not quantity is what matters most to us.

Do you sell your lace wigs on Ebay?

We only post unclaimed wigs for auction on Ebay from time to time.

If someone touches my head if I'm wearing a lace will they be able to tell I'm wearing a wig?

Most likey no. Because the lace is very fine if someone does touch your scalp it will not feel like a wig at all.

Can I send you hair I bought to make my lace wig?

Yes, however, we cannot insure your hair cost. Meaning, if for any unexpected reason your package should be lost in transit you will not be reimbursed for the hair you purchased.
